FAQ

All 48 teams: FAQs

How many teams are at the 2026 World Cup?

48 teams — the first expansion from 32 (which was the format from 1998 through 2022 in Qatar). The 48 teams are organized into 12 groups (A–L) of four. The top two from each group plus the eight best third-place teams advance to a round of 32.

Are all 48 teams confirmed?

Yes. The final draw on December 5, 2025 confirmed all 48 teams, including UEFA play-off winners (Czechia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Türkiye, Sweden) and inter-confederation play-off winners (Iraq, DR Congo).

Which CupCities team pages are live?

Argentina, Brazil, USA, and Mexico have full team profile pages live, with complete group fixtures, how to watch, and FAQs. The remaining 44 team pages will publish in stages.

Which teams are making their World Cup debut in 2026?

New 2026 entrants include Cape Verde, Curaçao, and Uzbekistan — each making their first FIFA World Cup appearance. The 48-team expansion opened slots for more smaller nations.

Who are the three host nations?

Canada, Mexico, and the United States are co-hosts. All three qualified automatically: Mexico is in Group A, Canada is in Group B, and the USA is in Group D.
